GRAMMAR – PAST SIMPLE

We use the past simple to talk about finished actions in the past.

• Regular verbs → verb + -ed
• Irregular verbs → different forms

We often use time expressions like:

• yesterday
• last night
• last weekend
• two days ago

Last weekend, my friends and I went to a music festival near the beach. Thousands of people attended the event, and several famous artists performed live. First, we watched a talented DJ in a huge concert hall, and later we attended a rock gig outside. One popular celebrity surprised the audience by appearing on stage during the final performance. The next day, we watched video clips from the festival on a music channel and sang the song lyrics together. It was one of the best weekends of the year.
