VOCABULARY – PERSONALITY & FEELINGS

GRAMMAR – ING FORMS

We often use -ing forms after certain expressions.

• be good at + -ing
• be afraid of + -ing
• really like + -ing
• be keen on + -ing

Anna: What is your best friend like?
Mark: He’s very reliable and easygoing.

Anna: Is he good at making friends?
Mark: Yes, because he’s really sociable.

Anna: Are you afraid of speaking to new people?
Mark: Sometimes. I can be a bit anxious.

Anna: What do you really like doing in your free time?
Mark: I’m keen on playing music and meeting friends.

My sister is a very thoughtful and loyal person. She is good at helping people and always listens carefully. She is also very sociable, so she enjoys meeting new people. However, she can feel anxious before important events. She is afraid of speaking in front of large groups, but she is trying to improve. She really likes learning languages and is keen on travelling. I admire her because she is both sensible and reliable.
