We use this, that, these, those to point to things.

• This → 1 thing close to me.

  • This is a chair.

• That → 1 thing far from me.

  • That is a chair.

• These → 2+ things close to me.

  • These are chairs.

• Those → 2+ things far from me.

  • Those are chairs.

Question forms:

• What is this? → This is a pen.

• What is that? → That is a tree.

• What are these? → These are books.

• What are those? → Those are birds.
