Exercise 1: About Me (I am / I’m)

We use I am or I’m to talk about ourselves.

Examples:

  • I am a student.

  • I’m happy.

  • I’m from Brazil.

Now you:

  1. I am ___________.

Exercise 2: About My Friends (He / She / They)

We use He is / She is / They are to talk about friends.

Examples:

  • He is a student.

  • She is a singer.

  • They are teachers.

Now you:

  1. My friend’s name is __________. He is __________.

  2. My friend’s name is __________. She is __________.

  3. My friends’ names are __________. They are __________.

Exercise 3: About My Family (He / She / We)

We use He is / She is / We are for family members.

Examples:

  • My father is a cook.

  • My mother is a nurse.

  • We are a family.

Exercise 4: Fill in the Blanks

Complete the sentences with am / is / are.

Tip: Short Forms (Contractions)

We often use short forms in speaking:

  • I am → I’m

  • You are → You’re

  • He is → He’s

  • She is → She’s

  • It is → It’s

  • We are → We’re

  • They are → They’re

Example:

  • I am a student → I’m a student.

  • They are teachers → They’re teachers.

Exercise 5

Write three sentences about your life today and three sentences about the past. Use be in the correct form.

Examples:

  • Today: I’m a student. My parents are at home. My friend is happy.

  • Past: I was tired yesterday. We were at the park last Sunday. My teacher was busy.
