Target Vocabulary:
Balcony, Ceiling, Cooker, Cupboard, Wardrobe,

Kitchen, Toilet, Bathroom, Shower, Garage, Ground floor
Goal: Use home and room vocabulary to describe where you live and talk about your daily routines.
1. Warm-Up (3 min)
Questions (give full answers – more than one sentence):
What kind of home do you live in? (a flat, a house, etc.)
Sample answer: “I live in a small flat. It has two bedrooms and a balcony.”Which room do you spend the most time in at home? Why?
Sample answer: “I spend most of my time in the living room because I like watching TV there.”

2. Presentation (5 min)
Vocabulary & Examples:
Balcony → small area outside a flat or room
“I drink my coffee on the balcony in the morning.”
Ceiling → the top part of a room, above your head
“The ceiling in my bedroom is very high.”
Cooker → machine for cooking food
“The cooker is in the kitchen next to the fridge.”
Cupboard → a piece of furniture with doors for storing things
“All the cups and plates are in the kitchen cupboard.”
Wardrobe → large cupboard for clothes
“My wardrobe is full of winter jackets.”
Fridge → machine that keeps food and drinks cold
“There’s some milk in the fridge.”
Counter → flat surface in a kitchen where you prepare food
“I usually cut vegetables on the kitchen counter.”
Entrance → the way into a building or room
“Our entrance is next to the garage.
First floor → the level above the ground floor
“The bedrooms are on the first floor.”
Bedroom → room where you sleep
“My bedroom has a big bed and a small desk.”
Kitchen → room where you cook
“Our kitchen is bright and has a new cooker.”
Toilet → room with a toilet (sometimes separate from the bathroom)
“The toilet is next to the bathroom.”
Bathroom → room with a bath or shower
“I brush my teeth in the bathroom every morning.”
Shower → where you wash yourself standing up
“I take a shower every morning before work.”
Garage → room or building for cars
“We keep our car in the garage.”
Ground floor → the level of a building at street level
“The kitchen and living room are on the ground floor.”
