Exercise 1 – Sentence Practice
Rewrite the sentences using inversion with negative adverbials.
I have never eaten such delicious food.
He did not realize how expensive the trip would be.
We did not finish the project until midnight.
She not only sings beautifully, but she also writes her own songs.
They have never worked so hard in their lives.
Exercise 2 – Dialogue Practice
Rewrite the dialogues with inversion for more emphasis.
A: I didn’t know she was famous.
B: Me neither.
A: We haven’t had such an amazing teacher before.
B: True.
A: He was not only late, but he also forgot his notes.
B: Typical!
Exercise 3 – Fill in the Blanks
Complete the sentences with the correct negative adverbial: Never, Not only, Little, Not until, Rarely.
___ did I expect him to apologize.
___ has she spoken so confidently in public.

___ was the hotel expensive, but it was also dirty.

Exercise 4 – Rephrasing Sentences
Rewrite the sentences beginning with the given negative adverbial.
I have never heard such nonsense. (Never)

I knew little about the risks of climbing the mountain. (Little)
She has rarely spoken to me so kindly. (Rarely)
Exercise 5 – Error Correction
Each sentence has a mistake with inversion. Correct them.
