WARM UP
Think about your town or city.
• What places are near your home?
• Is there a park near you?
• Are there any restaurants in your area?
• Do you go to the supermarket often?
• Which place in your town is your favourite? Why?
Answer in full sentences.
VOCABULARY – PLACES IN TOWN
Places (Part 1)
• hospital – hospital
Example: There is a hospital near my house.
• museum – museo
Example: The museum is very interesting.
• cinema – cine
Example: I go to the cinema on weekends.
• bank – banco
Example: The bank is next to the station.
• hotel – hotel
Example: This hotel is very big.
• university – universidad
Example: The university is in the city centre.
• station – estación
Example: The station is near my house.
• restaurant – restaurante
Example: This restaurant is very popular.
• supermarket – supermercado
Example: I go to the supermarket every week.

Place description (Part 2)
• beautiful – bonito

We use is there and are there to talk about places.
• Use Is there + singular
• Use Are there + plural

There is a museum in the town centre, and it is very interesting. There are two hotels near the university. The area is very safe, and I like living here.
Read the article twice. Focus on is there and are there.
