1. Warm-Up (3 min)
Questions:
Has anyone ever brought up an uncomfortable topic with you?
Sample answer: “Yes, my friend brought up politics during dinner.”
When was the last time you ran into someone unexpectedly?
Sample answer: “I ran into my neighbour at the supermarket yesterday.”
2. Presentation (5 min)
Read the examples:
Bring Up
“She brought up the issue during the meeting.” (mention a topic)
“Don’t bring up old problems again.”
Get Over
“It took him months to get over the breakup.” (recover from difficulty)
“She finally got over her fear of flying.”
Run Into
“I ran into my teacher at the mall.” (meet unexpectedly)
“We ran into traffic on the way to the airport.”
Look Into
“The police are looking into the case.” (investigate, examine)
“I’ll look into the problem tomorrow.”
Turn Down
“She turned down the job offer.” (reject, say no)
“He turned down the invitation to the party.”
👉 Notice: Turn Down can mean reject, but it also means reduce volume (not used here).
